Mamie Peers is the digital wrangler of Red Pencil and the former Vice President of Digital Marketing at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, a 3,005-room resort located at the heart of the Las Vegas Strip. During her time at the Cosmopolitan, Mamie oversaw the resort’s digital communications and advertising strategy, including the redesigns and mobilization of the resort’s website, a revamp of its social media channels, and an inspired approach to online advertising. As well as mobile booking functions, Mamie launched Rose, a mischief-making SMS, AI chatbot, and integrated her to serve loyalty customers, a first for a casino.

Most recently, Mamie worked with multiple departments and agencies to create The Cosmopolitan’s design system and master API – the library of data and styles to efficiently create more consistent, branded digital experiences across almost any interface. The result of overall programming led to the company doubling the money the resort made through direct online sales while also exceeding all goals for social engagement numbers.

Before joining the Cosmopolitan, Mamie was a high school English teacher in the Clark County School District, an experience she still credits with her passion for seeing everyone fulfill their potential. This was followed by a seven-year stint as IT Communications Manager at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. There she helped the Vice Provost of Information Technology radically modernize communications and online learning across campus, including transitioning to cloud-based platforms and secure wireless services and a new website that revolutionized information access on campus.

After her time at UNLV, Mamie joined The Cosmopolitan as Senior Director of Internal Communications and Identity Membership. In that capacity she created the resorts intranet, a social business network that changed the way employees interacted with each other and the brand.

Peers received a Master of Arts from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and a Bachelor’s of Science from Pittsburg State University. A native of Hawaii, Mamie has kept the red pencil anemone as a constant reminder of her homeland, a personal guide and a symbol of endless creative possibilities…
